The ceremony marked the onset of construction of the first 214 units to be built between Truman Road and 17th Street, from Woodland Avenue to Euclid Avenue. Parade Park Homes Sold

Parade Park Homes, one of the oldest Black-owned housing cooperatives in the U.S., was sold in a foreclosure sale. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development acquired it for nearly $12 million and subsequently sold it to Kansas City for $10. The city then transferred it to Flaherty & Collins Properties and Twelfth Street Heritage Development Corp. for a $275 million redevelopment project.
